Homeless

Well we are back from vacation in Wisconsin (when I was younger I always thought that anyone that would go to Wisconsin for vacation was crazy... look at me now). We have actually been home for about a week now. I promise a post with all of the fun that we had when I am feeling more up for it but right now I am just feeling sad and homesick.

I always feel this way for a while after I have seen my family but this time has been terribly worse. My Mom and Stepdad are selling our house later this year and moving to North Carolina so this was the last time that I will get to go 'home'.

I know that there are much worse things in life then your parents selling your house, I am just really struggling with knowing that I will never be able to go back there.

I feel displaced, orphaned,.... homeless. Silly - I know considering I haven't lived there in years.

Ben has been awesome and very understanding about it. He is constantly asking if there is anything that he can do to make it better or to make Idaho feel more like home. The truth is - I don't think that Idaho ever will be home, it is just this place that I live with my family.

I know that I have a great life and I am very happy with my life, I am just a bit homesick right now.

Sladeism

Driving through Montana...

Slade informs us that he has to go poop...

We tell him to hang on a minute so we can figure out where we need to be going.

Slade starts pointing out places...

"Look there is Mcdonalds - I can poop there, Dad you missed it... thats ok there is a Wendy's, I can poop there..."

Ben: "Hang on a second buddy, I am a little bit confused about where we need to go"

Slade: "Yeah well I am confused about why you won't let me go poop"

It's a...

GIRL!!!!!

We are really excited! Madie doesn't really seem to care but Slade is pretty ticked that he is getting another sister. He asked us if when the baby is his age it will become a boy... um no buddy that is not quite how it works. He also kept telling the ultrasound lady that he really wanted a brother and she kept responding that she was sorry but she was sure that it was a sister. Poor guy!

Anyway Ben and I were both sure that it was a boy and we had a boy name all picked out. Now we are trying to figure out what we are going to name this little lady.

So Excied!!!

Today is the day! I can hardly contain myself!

Today we get to see our sweet little baby again and find out what we are having.

Slade still wants it to be a boy but when I ask him what he thinks it will be he says either a boy or a girl.

Madie still insists "a siter".

I guess we will know later this afternoon. Check back tonight to see what we are having and feel free to leave any guesses in our comments.

We are also leaving for Wisconsin tomorrow and I am so excited!

2 and a half or 16... I can't tell

This Child!

I love her, she is crazy and funny. She seems so beyond her age some times.

I asked her to give me a smile and this is what I got.

Today she was climbing all over me and I told her to stop. She got up, put her hands on her hips, leaned forward and yelled "FINE"... turned on her heel and stomped off.

I was speechless.

My new job

Friday I packed up my office and said my goodbyes to Beehive. I thought I would be upset or at least tear up a little. I was totally fine. I have met so many wonderful people there... I met my best friend there, I met my husband through people there, and so many more people that have made huge impacts on my life. However I was ok with leaving.

People keep asking me how it is going being home. I will say that it is nice to be home but I certainly don't feel like I am home for good, I merely feel like I am just home on vacation. A friend told me that it took her about 2 or 3 months before she stopped having panic attacks Sunday night before going back to work. Awesome! Anyway in the mean time we are just trying to get our own little schedule down. As for the kids, I think that they are just pushing my buttons trying to figure out what they will be able to get away with now that I am home. I think that will take a couple weeks to balance out.

Slade is 5!

I am obviously a bit late on this one but I figure better late than never. The weekend of Slade's birthday he was with his mom so we had a birthday party for him the weekend before his birthday. I always say that is one of the perks of being a kid with divorced parents... double holidays! Anyway here are a few pictures from Slade's birthday.

I asked Slade what kind of cake he wanted fully intending on buying one for him. The very specific answer that I received was "I want you to make me a chocolate cake with white frosting and blue spinkles, then you should get me some new transformers toys and put them on my cake... and I want candles, not a bunch of little ones just a big number 5 candle" well ok buddy, that is what you are getting.

Slade has been begging for this game for a while now and Grandma and Grandpa from Wisconsin answered his plea. Needless to say we have been playing a lot of connect 4 lately.

Now I know that when anyone hears what we got him they think that we are crazy so I am asking in advance to please not judge us until you hear our reasoning...

Yes we got him a real kid sized 22. Like I said, before you think that I have fallen off my rocker please rememeber that I am fairly intelligent and am not going to send a 5 year old out in public wielding a loaded gun. This gift came with a long list of conditions, rules, locking up specifications and so on. In fact if you ask Slade he will tell you... I can't shoot animals, I can't shoot in the backyard, I can only shoot it if Dad is helping me, it is not a toy. A lot of people have asked me why we didn't just get him a bebe gun and my answer to that is that I would have the exact same rules for that. I am not a fan of guns at all, in fact I would rather they were not in my home at all however they are a big part of family life around here so I guess I would rather that he understands how to respect it as opposed to thinking they are toys.

Anyway all in all Slade had a great birthday. He is super excited to be 5 and keeps telling everyone that he is five now.

Also in response to the recent super hero power post Slade has tried and liked a number of new things. We are very excited although it is getting a little hard time remembering what foods have what super hero powers.
