Happy Halloween

Look at these little cuties!

This year we had a Unicorn, a Snow Fairy, and a Death Ninja (no he does not blend into the surroundings - he left with his mom for trick-or-treating before I got the chance to get a picture of him and came home to crabby to take one later).

The minute anyone tries to take a picture Madie automatically goes into awkward mode. These seriously were the best I could get of her.

And Abbi is just happy to be here. She thought the tutu was the best and kept patting it with her hands.

The girls and I went and visited Grandma and then went trick or treating with some friends. We got about halfway through the street and when Madie informed us that her foot (her right one specifically which she kept indicating by kicking at me with it) had run out of all of its energy and she just couldn't go any further. She said that her foot should have eaten some more dinner so that it could have walked farther. So Madie hoped in the stroller with Abbi (who had passed out by then) and rode the rest of the way while her friends kept trick or treating.

It was a fun night but we sure wish Daddy could have been here to share it with us.
Almost 3 weeks down - two and a half-ish to go.
Thanksgiving can't get here fast enough!

First Snow of 2012

Why is it that the kids couldn't be happier and I am like "well I better stock up on food so I don't have to make any more trips out of my house then necessary"?

Oh we'll bring it on Winter... But for the record, I wasn't done with fall yet!

33... YIKES!!!!!

So yesterday was my birthday.
33 years.
That sounds so much older then I feel.
Well most of days.

I had no plans for the day considering that my hubby is gone and Abbi has been sick for the last week so I didn't dare make any plans that required me being away from her. Then on Monday my amazing friend Beth texted me and asked me if I wanted to go to lunch. Um yes! She's so good to me! We of course went to our favorite restaurant Gringos and ordered the exact same thing that we order every other time that we go there. Which our waitress totally remembered every single bit of our order... is that saying something? She brought me these beautiful flowers and a package of Oreos.
Now that's a best friend! You want to know what else is a good friend the next series of text messages that we shared yesterday. We are both laughing so hard because, well, we are dang funny!

Me: So my Sister in Law posted this on facebook and it totally made me think of you.

Beth: Ha ha that's awesome? Is it because of that one time  groped you?... (For the record we don't really grope each other... this disclaimer is mostly for our husbands that think that would be cool - sickos!)
Me: One time? There has been way more than one time.
Beth: Yeah but you liked it. Btw be sure to wear an outfit tomorrow that doesn't clash with a sombrero...
Me: So my hot pink tights and leopard leotard are out? Damn! Maybe I will just wear my birthday suit... That is neutral, it goes with everything.
Beth: Oh my heck I just about drove off the road for laughing so hard!! (Can you believe she texts and drives - I can't believe I am friends with someone that would do that and she is married to a cop? - wait I am married to someone who does that - Don't text and drive!)
Me: That texting and driving is very dangerous whaaaaa I just about hit a telephone pole (Ok I was actually sitting still in the van waiting for Slade's bus)
Beth: I just hit 10 college students! Oh well... (Seriously if you can get into college you would think that you would be smart enough to look both ways before crossing the street!)
Me: And that's okay we're better off without them
Beth: Yeah there's a million more! (Ok we are not really this mean but dang it people look where you are going!... I am trying to text and drive over here!)

After we got home from lunch the girls nap and I made a cake. Slade came home, we did his homework, you know the usual. Tyson came over and fix her roof (have I mentioned that are shingles are disintegrating? They are, he slapped some tar on the bad spot so it will hold until spring), and Slade's window (which wouldn't close all the way so there was old air leaking in) and changed our furnace filter for me. Yay for heat and for our roof not caving in on us this winter. And even more Yay for great friends that help us out. Thanks Tyson!

Then the kids and I got pizza and ate some cake.
It was a pretty great day - the only thing that could have made it better would have been having my hubs home. Miss you babe!

Spooks

We seriously have the greatest word. Two ladies in our ward put on a huge Halloween parade and carnival on Thursday night.
It was A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
Most of the pictures I got are of Madie and Abbi because Ben was helping Slade.

They started out with a parade. They had all the kids meet in one spot and then walk down the street to the houses that the carnival was at. They even had a truck with a PA on it following the kids playing Halloween music.

Once they got to the carnival there were 18 games that they could play and get a prize or a treat for.

Madie didn't know what to think of all the kids in costumes at first.

Slade had a great time playing with all his friends. See that sword... Not my idea! Dad agreed that his costume needed a weapon... that sword has now been lost (see I am always right).

They also had these sweet cut outs that Madie thought were the greatest thing in the world. I think there were about 12 of them and we got her cute little face in every single one.

And this was what Abbi did the entire time. Rode around in her stroller and smiled at people.

Revolution

Have you seen this new show?

Revolution
Source
I am totally Obsessed with it. I think about it all week and I can't wait until Monday night when it shows again. I have to say depending on who's playing it has even taken the place of Monday night football... gasp! Okay that might not be totally true I still watch the game and I record revolution so I can watch it later with no commercials, I stinking hate commercials!

Anyway so I love the show. Well the show is fictional it totally represents Some scenarios that we have been warned about. For example we have been warned to Get a food storage, have water storage, to store medications and other items that are family might need in the event that we ate not able to go to the store and buy them. A prophet of God has told us that there will come a day when we will need these supplies.

With all the warnings that we've been given you would think that we would listen, yet we don't. I know that we are no exception for this. We being me and my little family. Ben's family is great at food storage. They consistently work on building and refining their food storage to make sure that they have everything that may need to meet the needs of there family. I wish that we were as good as they are At this. Unfortunately we seem to have the attitude that they will take care of us if something were to happen. Which we know that they would probably share with us what they had to help us out, but it's not their responsibility to do that for us. It's ours. It is our responsibility to take care of our family, the children that we've been entrusted with and ourselves.

So what are we going to do about it? I've been researching different ways that we can save money on our monthly grocery bill. I'm hoping that we can save enough money on her monthly grocery bill that I can buy extra things to add to our food storage and slowly but surely build it up.

That is what is consuming my brain today.

Christian?

I never talk about politics, mostly because I feel like my viewpoints are mine and there is nothing that anyone else says that will change them. I hate the debating, it solves nothing and just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

That being said there is something that I have seen in the current election that is making me crazy.
I hate seeing my religion being attacked!
Even more it kills me when I hear people talk about Mormons not being Christians.
This could not be farther from the truth.

I hear this and I get so angry!

This past weekend was the semiannual conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As always there were many talks that touched me but I feel like this particular talk beautifully addresses in a loving way the "are Mormons Christians" question.

I am so grateful for these chosen servants of God!

Happy Birthday Madie!

Madie turned 4 today.
I can't believe my little baby is 4 already.
She has been a total diva today too.
I will write more about her later but for now we are off to celebrate!
This is the best picture she would give me today. Little stinker!
Happy Birthday Madie Lou, we love you!
